Make a Wish Foundation

The Omicron Mu Chapter of Chi Omega’s annual philanthropy is Chi O Casino, a casino night to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  The night features professional poker, black jack, roulette, and craps tables.   We held our very first Chi O Casino this past February and it was a huge success.  Over five hundred Cal Poly students were in attendance, and the night got rave reviews.  For a small admission fee participants were given the opportunity to play at the tables for the evening with a chance at winning many exciting prizes.  By the end of the night we had raised over $6,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  Our fundraising was so successful that we were given the opportunity to sponsor the wish of a local child.  In April of last year we held a presentation party for a young lady from Santa Maria who had survived leukemia as a child.  We were able to meet with her, take her bowling, and get her gifts for her weeklong trip to Disneyworld.  Our very first Chi O Casino was an unforgettable experience, and we’ve already excitedly began planning for next year’s event. We hope to raise twice as much money this year as last.  We hope to see you there!ience, and we’ve already excitedly began planning for next year’s event. Relay For Life

Chi Omega also supports Relay for Life, a 24 hour relay event where you walk, jog or run to raise money for the American Cancer Society. We set up a tent every year and have members come in shifts so that at least one person is walking the track the entire time. Chi Omega raised $5,215.45 in 2009's Relay For Life making us the highest raising team there!

Greek Week

Chi Omega also takes part in Greek Week; one week of tough competition to raise money for various charities. This past year over 2,600 canned foods were donated for the Food Bank, $2,115.54 was raised during Penny Wars, and over 400 people donated blood!
